My new camera can do video with sound. Now that is added to the Visual section. They will be in mpeg4 h.264 format as there is not a non-proprietary file format that runs under OS X 10.3.9. There will probably only be 1 video up at a time. Maybe 2 if they are small.

I made it up Sierra and the Calaveras "Wall" on my single speed! 42x16, 69.04 gear inches. Just needed to brag. :)

I made my goal! 500,000 feet of elevation in one year. Actually I'm 2 months ahead of schedule. Which is good, because I'm tired now. Feels good to have finally accomplished something that I purposefully set out to do. I owe a big blob of gratitude to Harvey for pushing me to keep going during the first half of the year. All those friday centuries, which we refered to as "Al's friday century series", because we would do Al's friday ride and continue, usually to the Calaveras area, really paid off. Also to Mike Williams who organanized all those Death Ride training rides. Thanks guys.

Story time.

I remember one friday where we had 7900 feet and I was done.
Harvey said, "We need 8000, let's go up Morrison Canyon."
"Oh no, I'm done." I said.
"No, you can do it, it's just a hundred feet." He says.
I moan, but went along. I think this supposed to be good for me, rolls around in my head.
I put the VDO display on ride elevation and I stare at it the whole time.
"As soon as this thing turns to 8k, I'm turning around." I say.
Harvey laughs and agrees.
I stare at the thing.
I'm saying the elevation out loud.
7921, 7946, 7955, 7962, 7978, 7985, 7993, 7996, 7996, 7996.. It seemed liked it was never going to change, it felt like minutes had gone by.
"Come on you crazy device, change!" I yell.
Harvey is laughing.
Finally it rolls over, 8,003.
"That's it, I'm turning around." I say.
"Are you sure, you don't want to go to the top?" Harvey says.
I just stopped, stared at him, gave him a mean look and said, "No thanks."
He was ok with that and we went back down that whole 100 feet and continued our way home.
Thanks Harvey.

After much dragging of the feet. The Crossroads Flume 2005 trip is up.

New 2007 bike stats. Notice some new info. Gradients and elevation provided by the VDO 1.0+. A very fun toy. It can do 2 bikes, so an extra sensor will get placed on the Mtn. bike and those stats will get included. It will come in very handy as I try for my goal of 500,000 feet of elevation for the year.

Final stats for 2006 rides. Missing most of january though.

Riding with the Freewheelers in 2006.

2006.10.18

I changed how I do the latest pictures in the gallery. Now it's the latest download from my camera. I'll probably keep 3 downloads on the site at a time. They have bigger thumbnails and the larger pic is twice as big. I simply don't have the time to do it by day.

Also the ride stats will be from my homebrew database of rides. Although it's missing most of January, it should be more interesting for the statistic oriented. :)

Many Rhythm Exercises updates today. The etude sounds for the Eighth Note #1 , Triplets #1, Sixteenths #1, Quintuplet #1, and Sextuplet #1 were all changed to standard midi files. The exercise sounds for the Thirty Seconds were also updated. That was a big one. I slowed it down quite abit. It now clocks in at 38 minutes and 54 seconds when played at 40 bpm. Set aside a chunk of time for that one. :)
